To work on gas you need to prove competency, which means you must attain the CCN1 Gas core qualification as a minimum.
All Students must undertake a MLP (Managed Learning Programme) This is a minimum 280 learning hours which is recognised as meeting requirements of IGEM/IG1 and will be awarded a Certificate of Achievement by BFC
Entry route is either :-
Experienced Gas Engineer - previously qualified and looking to renew
New Entrant with transferable skills/experience - Plumber working on Gas and supervised by a Gas Safe Registered Engineer
New Entrant without transferable skills/experience - Person wishing to start a new career in Gas

ECS New Entrant's Gas Training Courses ( 8 1/2 months )
PG1 Course - £4900.00+VAT FLEXIBLE PAYMENT PLANS AVAILABLE (subject to additional costs )PG1 Courses are a 7 week programme and additional 1 week of Home Study. We deliver these programmes once every 5 weeks or so, with a maximum of 4 to 6 candidates per class so places are limited. Aimed at Candidates with no formal Gas or Plumbing experience/qualifications, enabling them to enter the Gas Industry. Flexible Training around your existing work or other commitments.
Criteria
Stage 1: 3 to 4 weeks Practical/Theory learning all about gas. Stage 2: Portfolio of 32 -40 jobs (6 months minimum). Stage 3: At 3 months - Portfolio (Up to 2 weeks) Interim Review and additional Training/Homework Study completion at Centre/Home. Stage 4: 1 week Portfolio review + Sign-off. Additional Training and Pathway examinations. Stage 5: 1 week Refresher training and ACS Initial Assessment
Plumber to Gas Course - starting from £3400.00+VAT depending on training days required (Pathway is also required £1000+Vat) Total £4400.00+Vat Plumber to Gas Course is designed for people who already work in the Gas or Plumbing Industry alongside Registered Gas Engineer(s) and have gained experience which has to be evidenced. The length of this course depends on existing qualifications/experience, but will be a minimum 6.1/2 months for completion. knowledge and current Skillset will be identified at interview/enquiry Stage to determine actual training requirements for the individual. A Portfolio of evidence (work carried out under the supervision of a Gas Safe Registered Engineer) will be required. This can include past evidence already gained. Confirmation letter from the engineer or company with whom they have gained their experience.
